Regular pilates practice can help improve balance, posture, muscle tone and joint mobility. For cyclists and runners, pilates perfectly complements existing training by developing whole body strength and flexibility, helping to reduce the risk of injury. Many people suffer from lower back pain and one key to preventing recurrences is to rehabilitate and re-train the deep abdominal, pelvic and spinal stability muscles. This will support the spine dynamically throughout movement. Pilates provides a unique method of restoring strength, flexibility and function.
APPI pilates teaches efficient and effective movement sequencing and co-ordination, emphasising quality not quantity, core stabilisation and postural correction. It is taught by physiotherapists, making it safe for those coming back from injury. It combines mat work with equipment based exercises to make the sessions more challenging and dynamic. It is not as easy as it looks!
